COMMUNITIES WITH A HEART!
RIDGEWOOD
LADIES HOME JOURNAL rated Ridgewood as one
of America's finest suburbs; Ridgewood is the epitome of what a town should be.
Graced by distinctive homes and well-maintained properties, Ridgewood offers
its town residents outstanding recreational facilities, fine arts, music
school, libraries and highly rated schools. Ridgewood stands as a model of
success.
Located among the Ramapo foothills in
Northwest Bergen County, Ridgewood is a place in which to enjoy the best of
both worlds: the charm and tranquility of a residential neighborhood and a
great community that is just 15 miles from Manhattan.
Ridgewood is six square miles large and was
originally the hunting grounds of the Lenni Lenape Indians. Settled by Dutch
farmers in the 1660s, the town is rich with history. During the Revolutionary
War, the village's Valeau Cemetery served as an encampment for the Continental
Army. The Old Paramus church was used as a barracks, a hospital and a prison
for British soldiers.
Today Ridgewood has approximately 25,000
residents; there are nine schools, a hospital, a public library, a movie
theater, the YMCA/YWCA and a splendid downtown area that covers 128 acres in 10
blocks and features 325 fine shops and restaurants. The downtown caters to
almost every style and food taste: American Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian
and Greek, just to name a few.
The vitality of the downtown is reflected in
the high level of participation in Ridgewood's Chamber of Commerce.
ALLENDALE
The distinction of Allendale is its likeness
to a New England "small town", with only 6000 residents living on 2.8 square
miles. It's the kind of town in which people know each other. The town offers
recreation parks, school activities and a wide range of clubs and
organizations. This wonderful community offers the 70-acre Crestwood Park
recreational area with its 9-acre sand-bottom lake. Any Allendale resident may
join the Crestwood Swim Club on a seasonal basis. The largest piece of borough
owned land is the 87-acre Celery Farm Nature Preserve. Many residents commute
to jobs in New York City using the bus service to New York or the Train Service
to Hoboken.
The average home price in Allendale is
$500,000. One of the most popular neighborhoods is San Jacinto, with its ranch
houses and colonials on half- and one-acre lots. Allendale has five condominium
developments in which models range in price from the mid $300k to $700k price
range.
From kindergarten age to the eighth grade,
children walk or ride their bikes to one of the two local schools. Northern
Highlands Regional High School sends 93 percent of its graduates to college and
is ranked among the top schools in the state of New Jersey.
MAHWAH
MAHWAH Bergen's Parkland, a country town
with a difference, boasts of mountains and forested lands. It is a place of
history and progress abundant with natural beauty. Recreational parks, ski
slopes, golf courses, state college and a host of social and civic clubs make
life in Mahwah full and enlivening. Mahwah is located in the Northwest corner
of Bergen County and ringed to the North by the scenic Ramapo Mountains and the
Ramapo River. With excellent crossroads and such major highways as Routes 17,
202 and 287, accessibility to work, play and wonderful things to do is just
minutes away. There is excellent transportation to NYC which is only 35 miles

Mahwah enjoys wonderful services, including
a school system that consists of six schools. Mahwah High School offers advance
placement courses in science, math, English, languages and fine arts. Some
students also take courses for college credits at Ramapo College nearby on
Route 202.
Mahwah has one of the largest condominium
communities. Many ranging from $280,000 to the $370s; there are also luxury
town homes that run around 500-600 k like Apple Ridge, which has its own 18
hole golf course.
The township is comprised of five sections,
each having a personality of its own and different types of housing. The
old-time Cragmere Park is made up of residential homes with charm and character
as well as some newer homes. West Mahwah is residential with some business and
industry and great town homes. The Fardale and Masonicus areas of Mahwah were
once considered farming areas but now contain some beautiful luxury homes, like
those found in Rio Vista, and town homes. Many people are enticed to come to
Mahwah because of its low taxes. The town is approximately 27 miles large and

Working With An Agent >Listening To Your Needs
Some buyers purchase the exact kind of house they said they were looking for, in the neighborhood they preferred. Other buyers surprise us by falling in love with a house that is the complete opposite of what they originally wanted.
Real estate agents listen carefully when buyers describe their needs and preferences. We screen our current inventory of homes to come up with possible matches. Since there is almost always some compromise involved when selecting a home, we may suggest alternatives that might work for buyers.
If you like a specific neighborhood where there are no homes in your price range, we may suggest homes in other areas with similar amenities. If you want four bedrooms, and one of them will be used as a home office, we may look for a den or family room that could serve your needs. When you look at houses, remember that your feedback is important to us--and it won't hurt our feelings.
